My father is currently at Royal Columbian Hospital, slowly recovering from a complicated heart surgery. At the moment, he is bedridden, on light oxygen support and fed through a tube. He can occasionally stand, with assistance, to go to the chair or bathroom.
We require someone to assist our step-mother, who only speaks Mandarin, with supporting my father and day-to-day tasks effective immediately. In addition, you would provide the extended family with text or email updates (in English) of his condition after each shift.
From February 13–24, while she is back in China, we require someone to be at my father's bedside tending to his needs for the full day.
You are essentially in a caretaker role but also an intermediary between the hospital and the family. The ideal candidate is hands-on, pro-active, conscientious and experienced with weak elderly people. You must have some knowledge of Mandarin to communicate with our step-mother. Depending on his condition, improving or worsening, we may require ad-hoc duties. We project a timeframe for at least 3 weeks in this active role, though it may evolve once our father is discharged from the hospital. Your point of contact will be our family in Vancouver.
We would like to shortlist candidates by this Sunday and make a decision before Tuesday, February 6th. Further details of the work required can be found below. If interested, please provide a quick summary of your experience, rate and availability. We will prioritise those who can work immediately, speak Mandarin and with at least four years experience.
Thank you!
Michelle
