I am seeking a compassionate and understanding female healthcare helper in a part-time live-out capacity. The primary responsibility will be to assist an elderly couple, 90 and 91 years old, in their house located in Etobicoke, Ontario, M9C 1K4. Your work schedule will be from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm three days a week, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The husband in the couple suffers from dementia but remains active. The successful candidate must have have a valid driver's licence and feel comfortable driving the clients’ car for errands. You will also need to accompany the husband on walks and provide a calm, engaging environment. Prior experience with dementia patients will be highly beneficial as this role requires patience and ability to build rapport. While the husband is currently being assisted with bathing and hygiene, like brushing teeth and trimming nails, by his wife, he may eventually require more direct assistance. Therefore, you should feel comfortable providing such assistance when needed. Aside from healthcare duties, this role also involves essential housekeeping tasks, such as changing beds, laundry, dish washing, folding clothes and ensuring the house is overall tidy and clean. You would also be required to undertake meal preparation duties – learning new recipes and cooking for the couple. While not essential, Spanish speaking candidates will be given preference. The position, although demanding, offers a competitive salary of $23 per hour gross pay, amounting to $20 after personal tax deductions, assuming they are applied to this job on Form TD1. Please note that this role requires less than 20 hours per week, starting from the 19th of April, 2024. Though this is a live-out position, a family car will be provided for use on the job.
