I am hoping to find a compassionate and empathetic individual who can bring sunshine into the life of my dear father, a tender-hearted elderly Greek man living in a long-term care facility. His life has been significantly impacted by two strokes and a serious fall which have unfortunately resulted in severe speech impairment and greatly reduced mobility. The role I am hoping to fill is a part-time Companion for an Elderly Gentleman. Your responsibilities would include sharing in casual conversation, reading him the news or possibly going for gentle strolls with him, pushing his wheelchair. While an understanding of stroke, dementia, and speech impairments would be beneficial, what matters most is a kind heart and a genuine interest in providing warm companionship for my father. Since this is a live-out position, you will need to be available in the middle of the day, preferably on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In total, the work would be only a few hours per week. Driver's license and automobile usage are not prerequisites for this role. Similarly, professional health care experience or medical knowledge, while valued, is not as critical as your genuine interest in bringing joy and companionship to my father's life.
