LETTER OF INTRODUCTION Dear family, My name is Rupi and I was born in Indore, MP India on August 18th 1987. My mother is a housewife and my father owns a business convenient store. I have two brothers, 21 and 32. Our wonderful family migrated to California in 1995 and later shifted to Canada in 2006 to explore new opportunities in business. Living in diversity, I speak English, Punjabi and Hindi fluently. While discovering myself in my high school years, I decided to take upon a day care assistant practicum as one of my courses which introduced me to a new world of possibilities for myself in the childcare field. In my early stages of growing up as a child, I would always want to hold babies and play with kids younger than me. My passion met the opportunity while working at the daycare but it wasn’t until after I finished my trade school education in both Business and Tourism, when I felt the void in my career field. I pursued different industries until I caught myself searching for childcare jobs which landed a job with a lovely family to care for their adorable 3 year old daughter. Starting as a temporary nanny, I became content with my work and continued to find a permanent placement in various childcare positions while studying Early Child Care Education program. Working as a nanny, teacher and a tutor allowed me to explore different roles for myself. One summer while searching for a temporary weekend job, I came across a magician who was looking for an assistant. I went to my first gig as his assistant and couldn’t help myself from smiling throughout the entire two hours. Seeing the smiles that we could create, I began learning the other services the company offered; face painting, balloon twisting, games & entertainment. Little did I know that this new role as an “entertainer” would allow me to embrace my quirky, energetic self and create smiles all around. Al though I enjoyed working with the company, there were different aspects that I had wished to change. The drive to lead and be in control led me to start my own company, Just Keep Smiling. This has been the greatest decision and joy in my career. Now successfully running in our fourth year, I have launched a new service called Party-Care - the first onsite daycare for large events. Running my own children entertainment company and having control over the quality of work has truly ignited my passion to thrive in this industry and make a difference. In between finding nanny jobs, I took a challenge to start working with kids with ASD to expand my knowledge and provide therapy sessions as a behaviour analyst. Currently, I’m a behaviour interventionist for a 6 year old with high functioning autism. My previous position was of a Nanny, caring for a newborn baby for 5 months. Caring and connecting with a baby gave me the biggest joy of life and I hope to find a family who is looking for a compassionate and patient nanny like myself who will take care of their baby as their own. Apart from my interest with kids, I love anything that involves the outdoors; Hiking, biking, running or simple nature walks. When I’m not on an adventure, I’m exploring new recipes in the kitchen as I love to cook vegetarian dishes. As I dive deeper into child development, my passion grows profoundly on how children learn and understand the life around them. The most important lesson throughout these years is to understand that every child is growing, learning, developing in their own ways. Every child has their own mind and eyes as to how they see the world around them and our job is to protect their individuality. A favourite quote of mine says it the best; “Children are not things to be moulded but people to be unfolded”. Our work is to progress these minds and enhance their abilities. This is the greatest feeling of achievement. The feeling of making a difference in a child’s life. With that being said I believe my truest strength derives from compassion and having the patience to communicate, coach, play and listen to kids. I care to make a change so I take actions to create the change. I would connect deeply with a family who is also open for this enlightenment in their child’s life and future. No experience with adult care as of yet but would love to learn. I have a warm and friendly personality with a patience that can help me learn to care for the elderly.
