Hi there, I am Adrienne. I was born in the Philippines, and moved to Calgary when I was nine years old. During my time in Calgary, I was fortunate enough to have had people around me influence and inspire me to volunteer around my community. After volunteering for different areas all throughout middle school and high school, I mostly fell in love with caring for and teaching children during Sunday school. From middle school to high school, I volunteered to care for children of all ages, gaining experience in a wide variety of situations. After spending more than half of my life in Calgary, I decided to move to Edmonton for my education. Currently, I am in the midst of finishing my second year of nursing at the University of Alberta. Through the clinical hours that I have gained, I have learned to work with the geriatric population, providing basic care and being there to provide therapeutic communication to those who are in need. In the future I plan to work with the pediatric population, as it is my absolute passion. I have a little sister who is eight years younger than me, and so the majority of my life has been centred around caring for younger children. In the same way I hold family of utmost importance, I also understand the importance of family to others, and strive to respect and uphold every family I serve.

Upon completing the second year of nursing at the University of Alberta, I will have completed more than 200 hours in the long term care placement and in the acute care placement for the geriatric population. From September 2018 to December 2018, I completed my long term placement under my nursing program. During this time, I was able to provide basic care for the elderly who were in need of assistance - focusing more on the role of a Health Care Aide. From January 2019 to April 2019, I will have completed my acute care placement under the nursing program. During this time, I was able to administer medications, perform head to toe assessments, and provide basic care - focusing more on the role of a Health Care Aide.
