I enjoy providing respite care to seniors and people with mobility issues, doing homemaking and companionship, helping them to maintain independence within their homes. I am an early riser. I enjoy cooking, baking, reading, singing, swimming, walking enjoying nature. I have a nine year old that I love to spend time with, including some volunteering at his school. I am an excellent driver and would be happy to provide an abstract. I have had a criminal record check done. In the interest of saving time and gas, I'm trying to stay closer to home for work.

Right after high school I began part time work providing respite care, companionship and general housekeeping for seniors, people with mobility issues also childcare for people on social assistance. I have worked full time at several other types of employment over the years which provided many transferable skills to the work I enjoy most. For six years I was part of a team doing 24 hour shifts with a brain injury client providing round the clock support with personal care - bathing, grooming, hygiene. We made sure he always looked impeccable and it was a source of pride the amount of faith and trust he showed us. We cooked all his meals, kept his home clean, drove him to all appointments and took him on daily excursions to visit his favourite people and places. I spent a year and a half working for a very dynamic young woman living with ALS, a position I begrudgingly left to have Sundays at home with my stepson. For two years I worked for an elderly gentleman living with Dementia as well as some mobility issues until he transitioned into long term care home. I then began working with a lovely little lady with health and mobility issues.This lady was mostly non-verbal but thanks again, in part to my ALS client I'm competent at reading facial expressions which helps me to ask the right questions and understand what is required for someones comfort. This clients health continued to decline until her unfortunate passing. I continued for a time to work in a supportive capacity to the family while also working part time for a quadriplegic gentleman. Currently, I am available for some evenings and nights. I have always found it very emotionally and mentally rewarding to work for someone helping them to enjoy as much quality of life as possible. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: Thanks to my clients with mobility issues, I now have some experience with several lifts and chairs.
