Since moving to Canada from the Philippines in 1990, I have found caring for individuals and families in need to be a highly rewarding career-one in which physical, emotional, and mental demands are more than offset by the experience of joy, satisfaction and fulfillment that only this type of work provide My job roles have included companion, caregiver, residential care worker, mental health care worker, nanny, housekeeper and geriatric care aide. Throughout my career, I have worked with various male and female clients, ranging from Very young and very old with variety of illnesses, physical, mental disabilities and living in both private home and institutional settings, I have developed extensive knowledge and thorough, hands on experience, working with broad variety of challenges such as seizures, acquire brain injury Alzheimer’s, dual diagnosis and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder.
