My name is Liza, I am 49 years old, a Fillipina, and a caregiver by profession. I have three grown up kids and they are still in the Philippines. It is very hard for me to be far away from them but as a mom, there are certain things that I need to sacrifice to give my children a better education and a better life. I worked in Taiwan for four years as a caregiver (for 2 matured ladies suffering from Parkinson's disease and Alzheimers) prior to coming to Canada. When I came here, I worked as a nanny for different families with children of different ages (from 1 year to 5 years old kids). After I finished the live in caregiver program. I then had the opportunity to work for a gentleman with ALS (Jan. 2012 to April 2015), a female Patient with Dementia (Jan-Oct, 2016) and now currently working to a female patient with Parkinsons (Dec. 2016 to present). I am honest, hardworking, playful (with the kids), patient, and I can do household work at the same time - with or with less supervision. I assist in preparing meals and giving a bath. I am sensitive to the needs of the elderly, responsible for the medication (intake), walk or accompany him/her to the doctor's appointment or go to the park. I also do some household tasks. I listen to the elder's need and am patient with them.
