Hello. My name is Shannon . I am a 27 year old female taking some time before going back to college to gain some more experience in my chosen field. I plan to go back to school for ECE (Early Childhood Education) as well as PSW (Personal Support Worker). I am a very fun, energetic and a highly responsible person. I have always been interested in working with children and the elderly, even as a child myself. I have years of experience with kids in many different forms. After starting out babysitting, I began assisting with teaching figure skating to young children with autism at my town's local arena. After finding how much happiness it brought me and how well I worked with children, I decided in high school to sign up for courses in Early Childhood Education. After two years of taking that course, which not only taught me the theory of child work, but as well as gave me the opportunity to work in a preschool which we held in the school, I found myself very passionate about this field. Starting in 2015, I spent just over a year as a live-out nanny for a wonderful family with four children, all going through different developmental stages. Watching those children grow and learn and become their own person was one of the best feelings I could ever imagine and I am so grateful that I had the experience. The family became just that to me. family. I found happiness in my job and I look forward to more experiences and memories in the future. For about a year, I worked in a retirement home as a dining room attendant. While I wasn't working as a caregiver, I was working one-on-one with residents on a daily basis. I loved every moment of my job. The conversation and experiences I had with each resident really stuck with me. Shortly after leaving the retirement home, I went on to begin my schooling for PSW. Unfortunately, due to my physical health, I had to leave the program early while I recovered. While I do not have my PSW diploma, I have worked with a wide range of clients, ranging from different ages, as well as different circumstances. I have worked with clients , both in their homes, as well as in a retirement home setting. I have also had a lot of experience as an in-home child care provider for children.
