I was born and raised in Taiwan in a family with five other siblings. My father was a civil servant for more than four decades until he retired at the age of 65. My mom was a homemaker. But she took up some labor job for over 10 years to help support the family finances when Taiwan was a country in poverty. But they both managed to sustain the family and gave the children ( six of us) fine education the best they could. They both passed away respectively at age 86 in 2016 in Taiwan. My years in Canada before they were gone enabled me to see and appreciate how much and deep my parents' love was for me. I have learned what aging is about from my parents during their aging process and learned how to assist them in their day-to-day activity. I first came to Vancouver in 1997-1998 for a certificate program on interpretation at Simon Fraser University. After I completed the school, I went back to Taiwan. It was until September of 2011 that I came to Vancouver again. It was again for the purpose of receiving higher education. I studied at Regent College, a post-graduate theology college, for four years ( 2011 - 2015). Before I came, I was working for a Singaporean bank, DBS Bank, in Taipei (the capital city of Taiwan) on Corporate Communications. It was when I was about to receive a second promotion at the job that I began to think that I needed higher education in order to impact more on the job. So, struggling between job promotion with an ever attractive salary and receiving high education in a foreign country, I decided to choose the latter one. So I came to Vancouver to study again. Just I never thought that I would reach this far: into a totally new territory where and when I am in need of searching a job opportunity in Canada. It is something which never came to mind before I made this study trip to Canada. I love languages and cultures and interactions with people. I am an Associate Member of STIBC (Society of Translators & Interpreters of British Columbia ). Basically I am a reserved person. I am a workout enthusiast. I started my first workout as a mountain-bike biker when I was about 30 years old. Up to date, daily workout has been one of my daily routines for 25 years: biking, jogging, aerobic dancing and yoga and CrossFit for now. Over time, I find that workouts have trained not just my body, but mind and spirit as well. I started playing piano when I was 45 in Taiwan. But after I came to Canada, piano playing has become a luxury for me. I don't have piano with me now. I do hope that I shall resume piano playing someday soon. I am also an avid reader. Theology training at Regent College has made reading more than a habit for me. It is part of my being, like piano playing and doing workout. I am a person of structure and disciplines. I keep a healthy diet and enjoy simplicity. I see myself a person healthy in body, mind and spirit. I am currently working as a part-time translator with an organic food company in Vancouver and with translation agencies in Taiwan; a part-timer on a housekeeping job. I also teach a kids Sunday School class at a Chinese church in Vancouver. At the same time, I volunteer to serve elders in my church and the Chinese community in downtown east side for a charity organization, Union Gospel Mission, as an interpreter.

My housekeeping experience: Decades of my own housekeeping and less than one year of paid part-time house-cleaning/keeping in Vancouver. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: Church kitchen cleaning; mentality of simplicity and decluttering; Translation & Interpretation between Chinese Mandarin and English. Associate Member of STIBC (Society of Translators & Interpreters of British Columbia )
