  About Me

Hello. I am Ashley.

I am 25 years old and IÕm currently a student at the University of Victoria (UVIC),
where I am finishing up my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology minoring in Education. All of my university courses are currently online and I will be graduating in April 2021. With current times as they are, I recognized an immediate need for childcare providers and tutors, such as myself, to learn more about digital education as so many families have been forced to utilize homeschooling and online education as alternatives and supplements to the traditional education system. For this reason, I specialized my education minor to focus on online and digital education in order to add significant value to the lives of the families and children that I work with this upcoming school year. Should your family have a need for extra assistance when it comes to the education of your children, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and speak more about this. Be it weekly tutoring, homework assistance, or test preparation I'd love to utilize my background in education to help your family this school year.

If my family, friends, and clients were to describe me they would likely say that I am compassionate and even-tempered in personality, extremely driven when it comes to my career and education, and family orientated. I am a clean and organized person, and it is important that my work and home are too. In my free time, I enjoy reading, being physically active, and taking walks and hikes whenever possible. I am also passionate about volunteering, being involved in community events and grassroots movements. Before moving to Toronto I worked extensively with Extreme Outreach - an organization primarily focused on working with at-risk and underprivileged youth in order to break the cycle of poverty, homelessness and addiction at an early age.

In addition to letting you know a little bit about who I am, I think it is also important to mention that I also have extensive experience in the childcare and tutoring field (as a volunteer, as a babysitter, and as a nanny). Because my experience is so vast, and I know that any parent who is reading this likely has a million more things to do at this exact moment, I'd prefer to give you a call and briefly share about my childcare experience instead of writing it all down here. Should my profile resonate with you and your family, I'd love to meet your family to discuss your unique needs and to determine if my experience and skill set would be a good match for your family at this time.

I look forward to hearing from you.

  Work Experience & Education Background

10 years experience, 3 references
I have extensive experience with children of all ages (newborn - 13 years), and I especially love working with children aged 8 and under. Over the past 10 years, I have worked as a part-time and full-time nanny for several families. As the needs of each family I have worked with have been different, each work experience has allowed me to develop my childcare and education skills in new areas.

Throughout my time as a childcare provider, I have developed the following skills and abilities:
- Ability to completely organize child’s schedule (school, meals, recreational activities, health and dental appointments, social plans, chore followthrough)
- Ability to communicate effectively with children of various developmental stages
- Ability to supervise and assist with homework and test prep
- Ability to organize fun and educational activities that are developmentally appropriate
- Ability to follow, and adjust as needed, children’s wake, nap, and bedtime routines
- Ability to plan and prepare healthy meals and snacks
- Ability to administer first aid training (background in sports injury first aid)

. and much more. Please feel free to reach out to learn more about my childcare work experience.

I am currently a student at the University of Victoria (UVIC), where I am finishing up my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology minoring in Education. My education minor is heavily specialized in online/digital learning as well as utilizing digital multimedia to improve learning and motivation in children. I have a great deal of passion for healthy living, community & population health, and childhood education. Through my studies in the fields of Kinesiology and Education, I have been able to combine my love of health, nutrition, physical activity, and childhood education. In the future, I plan to utilize my BSc to enter medical school.
