My name is Ava and I have a passion for childcare work! As the oldest sibling of four, I have always loved working with children. Around 11 I started my career in childcare as a mothers helper for a family friend- this later got me into occasional babysitting for members of my community in highschool. Upon discovering my passion in childcare, I became a part time nanny on a regular basis saturdays and sundays when I was 16 years old. It is around this time I joined big brothers and big sisters of halton as a peer tutor for my final 2 years of high school. About the same time I became a camp counsellor at Planet Kids located at Kelso, and moved my way up from junior counsellor to senior and then program director. During my time off from school during the pandemic I was a nanny to a lovely family of 3 children for about a year and a half. I have experience with up to four children at once, twins, children as young as 4 months old, and children as old as 12. As a nanny I strive to create a fun, safe environment for children- I loved my babysitters and nanny’s growing up, and I aim to fill that same role for any child under my care. Parents can have peace of mind knowing that while their children are under my care, they will be stimulated with age appropriate activities that support developmental growth and learning, as well as children will get enjoy their time away from Mum and Dad! (These times can be tough, but not with the right amount of fun!) I can do before/after school pickup and drop off, run light errands, preform light housekeeping, take children on in town excursions (up to discretion of parents) and am willing to provide a copy of my drivers license, police record check and references upon request!
