I am CPR & First Aid certified for infants and children, and am familiar with the RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) approach in child caring where the focus is respecting the self-expression of the child, as well as encouraging autonomy where the child is able. Since this past November, I have been caring for a two-year-old girl, twice a week. During our time together, I plan stimulating activities such as painting or treasure hunts; assisting with meal preparation and eating; going to the washroom; changing clothes; brushing teeth; and light house cleaning. Additionally, I have worked as a caregiver for an autistic boy between 2006-2008. I assisted him after school and engaged him in educational computer games, image puzzles, and stimulated his use of language using pictograms which matched words with their visual representation, and read books. Aside from caregiving, I studied and worked as a graphic designer for a Montreal technology company from 2012-2015. However, since then, I have decided to no longer pursue design as a career and now channel my creativity into working with children.
