Hello,
I am an experienced caregiver for 10 years. my first elder was a male bedridden I was just 22 years old then. though this is not my line of work, i felt passionate about it, i ended up doing it for a long time now. my sponsor employer has alzheimer's I lived with her for about 3 years, after that I had 3 patients with mobility problems, one of which has MS.
I am a graduate of a bachelor's degree back in the philippines. I took mass communication major in broadcasting. my first job experience when I was 22 years old was an accidental job, i was originally hired to do a work of an english tutor. my employer did not want to let me go, so she offered me the elder job which was available at that time in her family since after 3 month of me getting hired, the family decided to move to an english speaking country. by the way, that is in taiwan, my very first job.
I am a single mother, which is expecting my 9 year old girl to come be with me by next year. also I am a proud immigrant already, i have been in Canada since early spring of 2008. I like to communicate, i love conversations, specially the elders. I find they are the teachers of the "living life". the elders I have worked for influenced me in so many ways. if I start taking about all of them and all that I have learned from them here.. ill be needing a second page. hehe.. I just love them. working for them never made me feel like an employee. I always feel like I am taking care of my grandmother and in return for the care I give her, she educates me for what is anticipated to come to life. at the end of the day, i become knowledgeable and, knowledge is power. its priceless.
i also enjoy cooking, and still wants to learn more. I had one elder who shared with me a strawberry jam recipe from her grandmother. imagine she was 90 and it was 5 4 years ago. this job is just rewarding.
i will tell you more about the amazing stories and the many fun I had with them when I get a chance for an interview.
thank you for reading and I hope that you enjoyed and learned something about me and my work.
Best Regards,
Maria
Kids are surprisingly smart. i did a job as a nanny, it was a replacement job for a total of 2 months. oh goodness I laugh so much and I enjoyed a lot with them. still they are in touch with me until today. I am very thankful for that family to have given me the chance to do a nanny job even if I had no experience. she said, i did well for an unexperience nanny.
The Philippines education system does not have CEGEP or equivalent. we have 6 years of elementary education then 4 years of high school then university.
