My name is Michelle and I am from Victoria, BC. I have been working as a health care assistant for over 8 years. I have spent my career working in long-term care hospitals, community/home care, and spent the last two years in acute care hospitals. I am currently working on a rehabilitation unit where the focus is getting the patients independent and strong again after injuries/surgeries. I work with a large team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, rehab assistants. etc. I understand the importance of communication and working as a team. I also work on other medical floors. I have lots of experience with the young and the elderly and have cared for many types of conditions. I also have a little bit of a nursing background (completed year 1 of the registered nursing program) I am comfortable with medications and have a good understanding of reporting off any changes or progression. I will be available to work as of January 1, 2017. I would like to pick up at least 20hrs per week. I am starting school at Mount Royal University and will need hours around my classes. I would love to work in the community, and get to know the city. My classes run 10:00am-4:30pm My interests are my dog, hiking, running, cycling, cooking healthy meals, and learning.

I have worked with special needs children through the Boys and Girls club, activities involved swimming, arts & crafts, bus rides, walks, and with all ADL's. I have worked with a family with a special needs child in their home. I would help with bathing, dressing, feeding. We had a routine, where we would go for walks and out for lunch. We would spend time in the park, and I would read stories. I also would help with cleaning duties around the house such dishes and laundry.
