  About Me

Hi there, my name is Hannah, I am 22 years old and I live in Sidney BC. I am currently a full-time 3rd year Psychology student at UVIC taking 5 courses a semester mainly focused on mental health, well-being, and lifespan development. I love working with kids as I believe they have a lot to teach us, and I think that this time in their life is extremely important for learning healthy balanced eating and exercise habits, compassion for others and for themselves, and how to problem solve and make decisions on their own as well as with others.

Right now as I am in school full-time, I am only looking for occasional babysitting positions. My availability is Monday/Thursday 7am-11:30am or 6:30pm-9pm, Thursday 5pm-10pm, Friday/Saturday 1pm-12am (however every 3rd weekend I am unavailable as my boyfriend works 2 weeks on 1 week off in Fort St. John, so I take the weekend off when he is home).

I volunteer once a week with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Society of Victoria as a mentor and facilitator of the Go Girls. program, where myself and 2 other mentors spend an hour and a half with a group of 12 girls aged 11 to 14 to teach them positive body image, balanced eating, and fun and healthy exercise that they enjoy, as well as talk about puberty, relationships, and anything else that is on their minds. I also occasionally babysit for a family with 2 boys (8 & 10) about 3 to 4 times a month in the evening, and have been with them for a year and a half. I also serve once a week (Tuesdays) at The Surly Mermaid in Sidney.

After my exams are finished at the end of April 2019, I will be open to accepting full-time or multiple part-time child-care positions with much more availability in my schedule.

I attended a self-directed learning high school in Calgary AB called Bishop Carroll. There I spent my time learning time management, motivation and self-discipline as I tried to navigate a school without structured classes. I successfully graduated in June 2014 and took a year off before moving to the island. Once I arrived on the island I began my first year in Psychology at Camosun College and am now currently enrolled at the University of Victoria to complete the remainder of my degree.
