Hello :)
My name is Sophie. I live in Pitt Meadows and absolutely love the area.
I enjoy a simple life and taking part in things that bring me happiness. I have been a member of Girl Guides of Canada for 17 years now, which has been a great part of my life. I love being outside - gardening, camping, hiking, snowshoeing, etc. I also enjoy- cooking, reading, arts & crafts, learning new things, and travelling (given the opportunity).
I have a variety of experience working with children. Some of my experience working with children have been through the leadership roles in summer programs, and reading programs for five summers; through Girl Guides- being a leader, and helping other units and having been a live-in au pair.
Currently I am in my 4th year of university completing a degree on History and English online. In 2012 I completed an associate of arts degree in elementary education, and in 2013, I obtained an advanced diploma in TESOL (teaching English to speaker of other languages). My ultimate educational goal is to obtain a degree in elementary education and to follow my childhood dream of becoming a teacher.
Overall as a person, I am kind, compassionate and patient. I listen to understand first, rather than respond and having a caring, kind-hearted nature. I believe in the importance of imagination, and play and allowing for young minds to explore the world around us.
If you feel that I may be a suitable fit for you and your family, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks,
Sophie
I have a vast variety of experience working with children as outlined in my profile.
Summers of 2010 & 2011: I was a program assistant in a summer program for children aged 7-12 years old. In this position I often worked one-on-one with children that required additional assistance.
Summers of 2012, 2013, 2014:I was the coordinator of a summer reading program for children aged 2 - 13 years old. In this role, I developed the summer program (readings, activities, outings) that were appropriate to each age group and then facilitated the program.
Being a member of Girl Guides of Canada for 17years, as given me many opportunities to work with girls aged 5 - 18 years old- as both a helper and a Guider. As a helper, I would assist other Guiders with their units. As a Guider, I planned and organized weekly meetings for girls following the program.
I also have experience as being a live-in au pair, for a family of 2 children. In this role, I primarily provided care to the children- taking to and from school and daycare; preparing meals and snack for school and home; taking the children to and from activities planned by myself. Additionally, I did light household duties, including- laundry, vacuuming, dishes, and meal prep/meals.
