My name is Melissa and I have been taking care of children since I was eleven years old. It started out as a way for me to make money as a kid, but grew to be what I would like to do as my career. I am currently attending Georgian College’s Early Childhood Education program full time, but I would have no problem re-arranging my schedule to part time and working around the hours I would be needed to care for your children, as they would be my top priority. I have some experience being a nanny from my time working with a family, that I still keep in touch with, during the summers while I was in high school. I started out caring for two children with this family and ended up caring for four by the end. This allowed me to gain experience caring for infants, toddlers and children. I have also babysat for many different families as well as my nephews and I am currently doing a placement for school at a daycare where I work with children aged 2-4. I believe in play based learning and I love being able to do different activities with the children as well as crafts. I enjoy looking up different activities and experiences that I could do with them that you, as their parent, want them to learn and that fall into their interests at the time while also helping to improve their developmental skills. I would have no problem taking them on field trips or to the local park and I feel outdoor time is needed everyday as long as the weather is cooperating. I am also not one to just sit there. I will be on the floor with them, joining in on what they are doing and I will participate in all activities and crafts. I can do light house keeping chores, cooking and laundry if needed and I have no problem with pets. I also have my vulnerable sector check as well as my standard first aid CPR/AED level C training through Canadian Red Cross.
