As a new graduate Bachelor of Science Nursing program with 1280 clincial practice hours. I have demonstrated the ability to provide exceptional patient care that focuses on all faucets of a child’s physical, emotional, spiritual and psychosocial condition. Work History Preceptorship Surrey Memorial Pediatric Unit (September 2016- November, 2016) Provided safe care to through comprehensive assessments, client history, monitoring changes, implementing the appropriate interventions, and evaluating client care. Planned and implemented health care treatments and interventions and evaluated effectiveness of care. Reviewed pertinent data obtained through investigative procedures and reported/ took action accordingly. Administration of medications, medical treatments and documented procedures as per provincial regulations and standards of practice. Transcribed doctors’ orders and implemented orders in a safe timely manner. Performed intake assessments, and provided discharge instructions to clients. Worked collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary team. Respite Caregiver –For a child that has autism (May 2016- August 2016) Developed a foundation of knowledge in working with people with special needs. Developed a trusting, secure relationship through empathy, patience, and understanding. Communicated effectively through nonverbal techniques, silence, soft touch, and the use of images. Gained a better understanding of the cognitive, behavioral, and sensory needs of a child with autism. Provided Patient teaching within my scope of practice to a diverse population with several health challenges. Assisted in providing comforting and distracting measures to calm the children. October 1, 2015: Preschool Health Fair Taught parent, toddlers and preschoolers the importance of proper handwashing and provided them with an interactive demonstration of proper technique. October 2, 2015: World Breast feeding Days Offered education and support for new mothers. Coordinated paperwork for entry into event and for families to have photo taken. October, 2015: Preschool Nutrition Presentation. Developed a presentation slide show and presented at a seminar for adults on healthy preschool nutrition. Presentation was 1 hour in length. Answered any questions or concerns families had regarding their child’s nutrition. Brought refreshments and snacks for guests.
