Hi there. Before pursuing an education in Early Childhood Education, I went to school for Culinary Arts. I believe that my culinary training will be beneficial in this field as it has encouraged me to understand the importance of good nutrition and develop a healthy relationship with food. that I strive to model for children. I have now just finished up my last semester at Niagara College in ECE with the exception of one online course that I am taking throughout the summer. Aside from cooking and childcare, I enjoy reading, doing creative art activities (painting, DIY crafts and home decor, baking), spending time outdoors and staying active. I have always been passionate about working with children in the early years. After getting educated in early childhood education, I feel even more confident in my ability to give quality care in any setting I enter. I am First Aid CRP level C certified and have a current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

From the moment I was old enough to care young children, I enrolled in the babysitting course and began my journey into working with children in the early years. I completed a co-op term during high school in which I worked in an elementary school for half of the day alongside the Kindergarten teacher. My focus there was mainly to care for a little boy who was suspected of having autism. Due to the fact that the boy was not yet fully diagnosed, he was unable to have the extra support in the classroom that he needed. My work experience thus far has consisted of working as a Nanny for various families and four placement positions in different child care settings. I have mainly worked with children ranging from 6 months - 14 years old, but have experience with infants under 6 months as well. My college placements consisted of working in the toddler and preschool rooms in childcare centres as well as two Kindergarten classrooms. I currently am caring for two school-age children for a short period of time before school during the week in the morning with the exception of Wednesday's. I arrive shortly before their mother leaves for work and ensure that they have eaten and get to the bus safely and on time. Sometimes if they are ready early enough we will walk to the school, which they absolutely love doing. I have experience as a Peer Tutor as well throughout my time at Niagara College. My time working for families has included helping out mothers, cooking for the family, making lunches, cleaning, running errands, household organization, childcare, overnight childcare, caring for pets and much more. I would be happy to elaborate on all of my experience as a Nanny and give detail of the ages of the children, the role I played in each household as well as the duration of time spent working for each.

I have completed a General Arts and Science program, Chef Skills Training program and I am in the process of completing the Early Childhood Education program with only one course until I receive my diploma. The course that I am currently enrolled in is online and ensures that I have a very flexible schedule for work.
