my name is April. I am a 49 year old married mother of two children, with two pets..a recently rescued eight year old cat and seven year old dog. I am a non-smoker, and we currently live in Courtenay in the beautiful Comox Valley. I have been a long time resident of the Comox Valley since my family moved here from Richmond, BC to care for my father's aging relatives when I was 11. I am currently seeking a part-time after school care position in your own home in the Comox Valley, preferably in the West Courtenay area, in either the Arden or Puntledge catchments. (I am willing to consider positions in other catchments within the community depending on the conditions of employ/intended compensation/etc.) I am also open to considering daytime (late morning after 11 am to early afternoon) part time childcare for preschool aged children. I can be available immediately, however any amount of courtesy notice would be helpful. I am flexible to consider employment after 11 am during the week, anytime on the weekends/holidays, for casual, occasional, short periods, or part time positions. I am willing to discuss/negotiate wage. I have worked throughout the last number of years as a private LNR child care provider/nanny/before and after school care provider, and have experience with caring for children of all ages, including neurodivergent children, many on the Autism spectrum as well. Over the years, since the age of 11, I have worked as a private LNR child care provider offering care in various ways in daycare, babysitting, nannying, before and after school care, etc. I have also assisted with the elder care of my grandfather as a young teenager, and for the last fifteen years, my father who had multiple head injuries/dementia. He unfortunately passed away due to a lengthy illness back in January. I have also worked as a janitor/cleaner in a daycare/preschool in Comox, held various other customer service related positions within the restaurant and grocery industries over the years, and have cared for many homes and animals since a young age as well. I have also worked closely over the years with a local well known catering company. Prior to the worldwide pandemic, I worked with an ailing senior and her husband in home, and their daughter and family with two teenaged homeschooling children in their own home. There, I provided meal preparation/cooking, pet care, transportation to and from appointments, housekeeping, laundry, moving help, and educational assistance to the children. I also worked as a Designated Driver with Comox Valley Designated Drivers up until our services were put asunder by the pandemic. I am currently working part time as a shuttle driver/cleaner in the early mornings on weekdays at a local auto mechanic's shop. I have completed Responsible Adult training, Level 1 Food Safe, as well as Appetite To Play. I currently hold a valid Class 5 driver's license, and have a fully insured 7 passenger minivan for use in transporting to and from playgrounds, Strong Start, field trips, appointments, running errands, grocery shopping, etc. I can provide a spotless driver's abstract, criminal record check, and excellent references upon request.
