My name is Jane. I am a 27-year-old, female, living, working, and studying in Vancouver. I am an older sister, a family-oriented person from Victoria, where I grew up very close with my extended family and am the eldest of five grandchildren on my mother's side. I live in Mount Pleasant and work full-time in the area at a fitness studio. I am a fitness instructor and a manager. I am also part-time pursuing my Master's in Counselling. I have an undergraduate degree in English and Gender Studies from the University of Victoria and have lived in Vancouver for over a year and a half. Although I am working full-time because of the structure of my job, I create my schedule ways in advance and have a level of flexibility that most people do not have in full-time positions. I would love to work with a family once or twice a week while being available for additional hours in the evenings. I am a reliable, respectful, and people-oriented person. I am a quick learner with plenty of experience working with children, especially with ages five years and under. I know that I excel in this position working with kids because of my adaptability, communication, and creativity. I'm more than happy to take your littles on outings, including to the beach or pool or anywhere else you'd like us to go. I have worked with kids of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds for over ten years. I first began nannying and babysitting when I was thirteen years old. From this age, I was also coaching sports, including tennis, field hockey, and later swimming. From 2016-2021, I worked as a lifeguard and swimming instructor between three different recreation centres in Victoria, BC. I taught lessons to all ages; my favourite age group was children under five. Throughout babysitting as well as the positions I worked, I was able to work with children of all different needs and abilities. I have been an interventionist for a young teen with autism and a younger child with non-verbal autism. In addition, I have looked after young children with ADHD and FASD. I have also worked in an underprivileged school as an English second language teacher in Warsaw, Poland. I was working with elementary school-aged children teaching English, math, and occasionally physical education. I also have au pair in London for a family of two children. With a range of experience working with children and with people in general, I strive to create an environment where children can grow and develop into themselves in an inclusive and safe space. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's in Counselling, and these are values that will extend into my future practice.
