I am a licensed Nurse in the Philippines, had volunteer experience in hospital setting and cosmetology center for few months, needed to work overseas to help in my little family's financial situation and find an opportunity to pursue my Nursing career abroad. In Italy, I worked as caregiver for a boy for 2 years whereas I do everything that needed to be done, from cooking, housekeeping, bathing, ironing, washing laundry, walking the dog, dropping off and picking up the boy at school, accompanying him to the doctor and to recreation, helping him with his homework, and so forth. I was able to sponsor my family(husband and son) and needed to leave the Live-in job. I work then as part-time babysitter and housekeeper and at the same time work as a part-time caregiver to an elder whereas I do checking of vital signs, assisting her in medication, cooking, light housekeeping, accompanying her to doctor's appointment, grocery, getting a coffee at the bar, morning walk and so forth. These part-time jobs lasted 4 months or so because My application to Canada arrived, and since another opportunity opened I have to leave. It was on 2013 when I arrived here in Canada and found a job as Live-in Caregiver in Alberta. I took care of twin babies and do almost the same as what I did as a caregiver in Italy. I worked with them for 4 years who became like a family to me as well. Also, while working as Live-in caregiver, when I got my open work permit, On June 2016, I work as healthcare aid in an Assisted living facility; whereas I learned and refreshed my nursing skills such as but not limited to: med administration, safe handling of clients, dealing with clients with Dementia, Parkinsons, and MS, feeding, showering, walking with clients with difficulty in ambulation, AM and HS care, Toileting, cleaning and changing of catheter day bag to night bag, putting on and cleaning b-pap, managing oxygen tank, using of lifts, maintaining and organizing of clients place, preparing their meals and helping on their laundry. I ended working with my jobs this October 2017 as our family needed to move here in Richmond because of job relocation for my husband.
