My name is Emily, I am 19 years old, currently work at the local library as a Shelver, and am a 2nd year English student at Simon Fraser University. In January 2018, I was officially accepted into the Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland program as a Big Sister Mentor- I have yet to be matched with a Little Sister. I grew up in North Vancouver and played soccer and multiple other activities as a child. On weekends I like to go shopping with my mom, have dinner with my friends, or go for walks on the sea wall. Every now and then I babysit for a family of 5 in Lynn Valley when the parents go for dinner, however as the children are now getting older my service is less and less needed, due to the children's growth and increasing maturity. This coming July 2018, I babysit for this family again for evenings of one week only, however my primary source of income is derived from my work as a Page (Shelver) at the local library. I am open minded, humble, kind, and most of all patient. I thrive off the feeling of being needed and appreciate whole heartedly when parents entrust me to take care of their children, as it shows their confidence in me and boosts my self-esteem as well. I am adaptable to whatever activity or diet your child may possess, I may not be familiar with everything but I am open to learning, personal growth, and getting to know your child. If I can be of any service to you, it is that you're child will not just gain supervision for the time being, but present will be a sincere, listening, and kind adult. Thanks.

I have experience taking care of a: Canadian Family of Five: 6 year old girl, 8 year old boy, and 13 year old teenage girl, English as their first language. The little girl and boy are very energetic, opinionated, and friendly. They love watching netflix, going to the park, playing board games, and other various light duty activities. The teenage girl takes care of herself and informs me of anything the parents have instructed her to pass on to me. Korean Family of Three: 3 year old boy and 5 year old girl, Korean as their first language, was hired in order to speak to them in English and get them accustomed to Canadian culture. The parent of this household was a single-mom with the children's father living in Korea. The mother was the sweetest, most humble lady. The first time I babysat for them, I had to put the little girl and boy to bed and the little girl became homesick and cried for her mother. I comforted her, let her watch a TV show, and have a snack while waiting for her mom to put her to bed instead. After this incident, the little girl and boy both became used to my presence and she missed her mom less and less after she realized I was there to take care of them for a short time and to just have fun.

I graduated from a High School in North Vancouver in 2016. As of September 2016, I enrolled in full-time studies at Simon Fraser University and expect to graduate in 2021.
