I am a recent high school graduate who is seeking a job for the summer before starting at University of Ottawa this fall. I will be entering the linguistics program, with the aspiration to pursue education following the completion of this program. I was born in Germany into a family of six, being the youngest of four children. Before the age of one my parents immigrated to Canada where I spent the first thirteen years of my life. In Canada, I attended a regular public school, took piano and skating lessons, and was involved in much more. After completing grade school, my family moved to Manila, Philippines, where I completed high school. In the Philippines, I had a lot of experience volunteering in and organizing orphanage ministries, childcare for large groups of children between the ages of two to twelve, teaching toddlers in a Sunday school, and also just regular babysitting for the children of friends. Because of this range of experience, I can work easily and comfortably with children of all ages, gender, and background. I love children and looking after them, but some of my other skills and interests which I see as assets for a position in childcare include good communication skills, organization, timeliness and responsibility, patience, creativity, cooking, baking, exercising, playing games, preparing and making crafts, and learning.

Canskate helper in Mississauga: I worked as a volunteer helper for the Canskate program for Skate Canada at my local skating rink, teaching young children learn to skate. Volunteer/Leader for a week-long day camp in Windsor: I went on a trip to Windsor for a week to run a day camp for elementary-aged children in the community, playing games with them, doing crafts with them, and teaching them Bible stories. I was specifically in charge of organizing and preparing the crafts for the children. Orphanage ministry in the Philippines: A number of times I would organize visits to a local orphanage near to where I was living in Manila to spend time playing with the kids and helping them with homework. Sunday school child care in the Philippines: For a period of time, I would volunteer two hours each Sunday morning to look after a group of two-year-olds while their parents were in the Church service. I would mostly play with the children but was also responsible for leading songs, stories, crafts, and communicating with parents on the behaviour of their child. Childcare for a large group of children in an expatriate community in the Philippines: I was responsible for organizing activities for a large group of children ages three to thirteen during a community event. I planned games and crafts for the kids to give them a fun time while their parents were busy. Childcare for a large group of staff children for my school in the Philippines: I would often volunteer to do childcare for the children of the teachers an staff at my school. This would be during their all-staff banquets or retreats. My responsibilities included playing with the children while their parents were away. Babysitting: I have experience babysitting children ages four and above on their own, carrying the responsibility of not only playing with the child while their parents were away, but also reading with them, helping with homework, feeding them, giving baths, and putting them to bed.

I have recently graduated from high school at Faith Academy Philippines, where I was involved in many teams, committees, and leadership positions, and was also part of the National Honor's Society. I am planning on attending University of Ottawa for their linguistics program this September.
