I love working with children and youth, and hope to have a career working with them. I also have considerable experience working with a wide range of children and youth, including those with diverse abilities, have communication barriers and learning disabilities. I have had many nanny jobs in the past as well as volunteering with youth in various settings. I believe in the importance of warm caring relationships in the development of children and youth. Safety, both emotional and physical, is also a top priority when organizing any activity, adventure or simply spending time with children. Due to my interest in this field, as part of my first year course work, I have taken biology, psychology and sociology courses which have covered, among other things, child and youth development, health, emotions and stress, and nutrition. I have current first aid, Level C CPR, and my Food Safe, Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA) training and my Psychological First Aid certificate. I also love sports and being active and I think spending time outdoors and away from electronics contributes to a healthy lifestyle for young children.
