Hi. My name is Mikaela, and I will be a graduate student at McGill University in the fall of 2019. I have a bachelors degree in psychology and education, also from McGill. I graduated university in 2018 and spent the school year working in an international school as an intern, teaching high school English, social studies, and as a student support worker.
I have extensive experience working with children of all ages. In the past, I have worked as: a high school teacher, summer camp program coordinator, full-time summer nanny, soccer & gymnastics coach, counsellor, lifeguard, early childhood educator, tutor, and mentor.
I have been a babysitter since I was 11 years old and love working with kids. Outside of work, I love to be active, spend time outside, and travel. This year, I will be pursuing my masters in inclusive education. I am looking for a position that can be flexible regarding my class schedule.
Teaching intern - I worked with high school students in English and social studies classes, and also worked in the resource centre in the school. I did a lot of one-on-one work wtih students, ages 14 through 19.
Early childhood educator - I worked as a floating teacher in an daycare/preschool. In this position, I worked with all the age groups in the centre, ranging from infant to age five.
Summer camp head counsellor - I worked with a co-counsellor to organize weekly activities for children ages three through ten. This involved scheduling all acitvities, preparing and implementing activities, and communicating with parents and supervisors on a daily basis.
Summer nanny - for three summers in a row, I worked with different families for the duration of the summer. As a nanny, I transported children to various activities, planned day trips, and introduced different activities each day. Each of these positions ranged from 35-50 hours a week, and required both childcare and housework.

I am an experienced lifeguard with Red Cross Certification.
