  About Me

My name is Renee and I am an active BC Certified elementary school teacher seeking employment during times when public school is not in session. Before obtaining my degree, I worked in a combination of flower shops, restaurants, seniors homes, and day cares. Since graduating from the UBC BEd program in 2016, I have taught children in kindergarten through grade 7 in independent, public, Montessori, and international school settings. Furthermore, I have experience teaching ELL classes over the summer, and have worked as a Spring Camp Leader for children aged 5-11.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing and singing music, gardening, cooking, baking, going for hikes, spending time at the park, doing arts and crafts, and playing games with friends. Im a very active, hands on, social person. I love spending time with other people and am empathetic and caring towards others. I strive to exercise patience, understanding, and compassion in all of my interactions, especially those with children.

  Work Experience & Education Background

4 years experience, 3 references
Prior to graduating with my Bachelor of Education in Elementary degree in 2016, I worked at St. Barnabas Daycare. During this time I worked mainly with children aged 7-12, although I occasionally worked with children from 2-6 years old as well. The job entailed safe arrival and departure procedures, being the sole supervisor for outings with the children, providing snacks, planning activities, and maintaining health and safety procedures.

Over the past three years as a teacher I have accumulated a rich and varied set of experiences working with children. I have worked in the independent school system (K-7 music), the public system (including a 3 month contract in a grade 4/5/6 Montessori classroom), and taught overseas (6 months in Bristol, UK). During school breaks Ive worked teaching ELL at beginner and intermediate levels, and have led Spring Camps at the Richmond Museum (Ages 5-11).

February 14, 2019 To whom it may concern: It is my pleasure to recommend Renee as an elementary school teacher wherever she may apply. Renee worked at Montessori Elementary School, School District 39, in Vancouver, British Columbia, from March 14 to June 30, 2018 three days a week in a Grade 4/5/6 Montessori classroom. As the principal, I can attest to Renees dedication and professionalism, her strong collaborative skills, and her positive, friendly personality. Tyee Montessori School is a unique learning community and requires a creative and flexible approach. As well as teaching the Revised BC Curriculum, teachers follow the Montessori methodology and philosophy. They must address the needs of a multi-age classroom with a wide range of learning styles. A job-share teacher has the additional requirement of planning and liaising with her partner. Renee is punctual, reliable and has a high standard of professionalism and ethics. She was always prepared in terms of lesson plans which reflected the Redesigned and Montessori Curricula. She collaborated with her job share partner and support workers to support students with special learning challenges. Her perseverance with one student in particular was remarkable. She worked with the school and district teams to find ways to engage this student, to make learning meaningful, and to reduce his anxiety about school by making learning flexible and fun. Renee was excellent at finding creative ways to engage all students through hands-on activities such as weaving, which also integrated the First Peoples Principles of Learning. She brought her own passion about gardening into the classroom with a creative unit on plants which involved students in planting, harvesting and cooking. She also participated in the many whole school activities at Tyee including Project Chef, a drum awakening ceremony, and Science and Engineering Day. Renees manner with students is firm, but fun as one parent informed me. In fact, Renee has been our go-to guest teacher this year by request, and has been working as a job share teacher in another Grade 4/5/6 class where the teacher is on leave. She is able to successfully juggle three grades, supervise work and teach mini lessons, in such a way that students work independently at their own pace in a calm environment. Tyee parents are very involved in their childrens education and Renee is aware of the importance of communicating with parents in an open and transparent manner. She is always available for meetings with staff and parents. As a life-long learner, Renee seeks to continually improve her practice. She is always open to feedback and professional development opportunities. Renee would be an asset to any school and I am happy to provide this recommendation on her behalf. Please feel free to contact me to further discuss her merits. Sincerely, Julie W Principal, Tyee Tyee Elementary School Vancouver School Board Montessori Program

January 21, 2019 To whom it may concern, It is with pleasure that I provide this letter of reference on behalf of Ms Rene Pasula. Ms Pasula was employed as a part-time teacher at St Alcuin College for the Liberal Arts (a kindergarten-to-grade 12 non-denominational school) from September 2016 to June 2017. During this time, she was responsible for the music programme for students from kindergarten to grade 7. Ms Pasula demonstrated a true passion for teaching. Not only was she thoughtful in her daily planning, she was purposeful and organised in her daily approach. Friendly and kind, she put a priority on the well-being of her students. This was evident in her interactions with her students and with the community. During her year with us, Ms Pasula embraced the opportunity to work on school initiatives. She implemented an inter-generational project with a local seniors' home in preparation for our Remembrance Day assembly. In addition, Ms Pasula coordinated the winter celebration concert, involving every student from kindergarten to grade 7. Furthermore, she was happy to work with students in an extra-curricular capacity, such as working to coordinate a spring talent show. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Ms Pasula for a teaching position. Please feel free to contact me for any further information. Yours sincerely, Stella A Head of School
