As in many African countries, the unmet burden of life-limiting diseases is staggering, with competing priorities in a low-resource setting leaving a significant service gap of provision. Farida was the nurse of the organisation providing community based palliative care, free-at-point, where she was in charging of supervision of the many non-clinical community volunteers providing holistic care to vulnerable palliative patients. This serves as a unique operational model, relying on local cultural/religious donation along with volunteer time, with a recently developed memorandum of understanding with the Rwandese government and aspirations as a scalable model to cover a greater proportion of the Rwandese population and hopefully reproducible elsewhere in Africa. Our organisation, Al-Amal, uniquely task-shift many of the non-clinical elements of supportive palliative care to local community volunteers. In person She was performing home based health care for the patient of organization where she has to give nursing care to our patients including feeding, wound care, drug administration, bathing, accompanying our patients to hospital to meet there rendez vous. She demonstrates an ability to overcome and solve the many clinical challenges of her environment with novel solutions, also her personality traits include high conscientiousness, being highly reliable. Farida has demonstrated immensely inspiring compassion and altruistic behaviors , in her persistent commitment, including considerable self-sacrifice, to caring for the vulnerable palliative populations in her setting. I would absolutely recommend her and hope this information is helpful in a uniquely operational community health care organization, working within such a challenging setting.
