Hello! My name is Grace and I am available for part-time or casual/on-call care during the evenings and weekends. I have my own transportation and am willing to work in Ottawa and Gatineau. I am fluently bilingual in English and French.
I was born and raised in Northwestern Ontario, but moved to the NCR in 2017 to attend the University of Ottawa. I began working for the federal government in 2021, and I have been full-time in the public service since completing my Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (minor in Criminology) in 2023.
I love being outside, especially during the summer. I enjoy walking, hiking, biking, swimming, and photography. My “rainy day” hobbies include reading, doing arts and crafts, puzzles, board games, and curling up on the couch to watch a Disney movie.
I am caring, patient, and honest. I love working kids, and I am hoping to build lasting connections and relationships with the families I work with.
I have been privileged to work with children and youth in a wide variety of environments.
I have seven years of experience as a camp counsellor for youth aged eight to 13. In this fast-paced environment, I was responsible for the constant supervision of youth during activities, such as hiking, swimming, and extended periods of walking alongside traffic.
I have one year experience as a full-time nanny for two children aged three and four. Daily responsibilities included lunch preparation; light household cleaning; transportation to activities; and supervision while biking, swimming, and walking.
I have several years of experience babysitting children aged two through six. Responsibilities have included lunch and dinner preparation; light household cleaning; supervision while biking, swimming, and walking; bathing; and preparing children for bed.
I also have experience assisting children with homework. I completed a co-op placement in a grade 5 classroom providing one-on-one support to students struggling with reading comprehension and math. Further, I have one year experience as a French tutor for a grade 1 student where I was responsible for preparing two lessons per week based on the child’s developmental requirements and abilities to supplement the classroom learning.
