Hi. My name is Shannon. I have moved to Peterborough to attend teacher's college at Trent. However, I won't be starting until September 2020. I just finished working as an environmental educator at GreenUP Ecology Park. My job was spent partly working at the native plant nursery and also facilitating outdoor activities for day camps and classes. My favorite activity to lead was animal yoga. My joyful, playful qualities help me connect with children quite easily. I love the outdoors and spend a lot of my time hiking in the trails, gardening and growing food. If you're looking for a caregiver who will bring your kids outside to explore or bring the wonders of nature inside, then I am the right fit for you. My career goal is to blend my background of horticulture and gardening with teaching children. Children are easily engaged with the natural world and this connection is super important to nurture. This year I worked as an environmental educator, facilitating activities for groups of children aged 4 to 9. Last year I interned on an organic farm, part of the internship involved childcare for a 6 year old and 2 year old. I have babysat an 18 month child on many occasions. I have been babysitting occasionally since I was 12. Although I haven't been a nanny before, I am sure that I will enjoy it and so will your kids. I will be patient and caring and provide them with full attention, all while have fun. But when it's time to be serious (bedtime or homework. ), I will explore ways that suit your child's needs, ensuring they rest well and are prepared for school. I hope this give a little glimpse of what I have done and what I will do.

I obtained my Bachelor of Environmental Science at McMaster in 2014. I will be attending Trent in Sept 2020 for my Bachelor of Consecutive Education.
