  About Me

Hi, my name is Grace and I am 23 years old and from England. I am currently in Victoria on a working holiday visa, however, I am in the process of applying for my permanent residency.
For the last year I have been an au pair for two girls, aged 2 and 6 here in Victoria. My role as an au pair involved being responsible for the girls from 7. 30am until 5. 30pm Monday to Friday. Some of my daily tasks included the morning school run, preparing and cooking meals, caring for the 2-year-old all day and planning and organising post school activities. As children, particularly toddlers, can be unpredictable, I was often required to think on my feet to solve problems quickly and this helped develop my adaptability to many situations.
Before coming to Canada I was a carer. My role as a carer involved the looking after and intimate care of a 26-year-old adult with severe learning difficulties, Prader Willi Syndrome and traits of Autism. Working as a carer required me to adapt quickly to different situations and develop strategies to ensure desired outcomes were achieved. Supporting an adult with additional needs has greatly improved my interpersonal skills and made me a more compassionate person.
A little more about my interests and hobbies. I love nature and am happiest when I am outdoors. I think this is really reflected in the amount of time I spend outside with the children I am caring for, engaging them in fun activities such as treasure hunts at the beach and nature walks. I have also been a dancer for 18 years, taking weekly ballet, tap and modern classes and love to bake.
I am looking for any babysitting opportunities, evenings or weekends.

My previous employer. The Mum of the two girls I au paired for. Wed, Oct 16, 2019, 1:57 PM to me To whom it may concern, I am pleased to write a letter of reference for Grace, who has worked for us for a year as au-pair in Victoria, Canada. Grace has taken care of my two daughters, (2 years and 6 years) from September 2018 to August 2019. While living with us, Grace has shown great adaptability and a creative nature while handling conflicts and tricky situations between siblings. She is extremely organized, reliable and trustworthy. She had a schedule set for my youngest kid to undertake different activities during the week, while being always on time to drop ad pick up my oldest daughter at school. She has an immense patience and finds ways to easily distract my girls in crisis moments, thus change a conflict situations in a moment of fun and silliness. Grace is extremely compassionate and caring. Every time another mom had issues with their kids´┐Ż schedule, she would offer to take the kids and help out. Grace has become a daughter to us and a big sister to my girls, she has enriched our family with her cheerful personality. I am happy to offer more information about her if needed. Anyone who will hire her will be pleased to see how the expectation they had initially are not even close to her ability to exceed in any task she is challenged with. Best regards Beatrice
