Hi. I’m Lauren.
I recieved my Bachelor of Social Work from Lakehead University. I currently work full time for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia as a Mentoring Coordinator.
Some of my other childcare experience includes camp counselling, dance teacher, babysitting, and a day care teacher. I’ve also been involved in many volunteer childcare positions including both a placement student and mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia and Clarington. I was also a dance teacher assistant for several years before teaching.
I have completed the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development program and taken many relevant classes throughout university including Child Development and Human Development.
In my spare time I enjoy dancing, reading, watching Netflix, going for walks, and spending time with my friends. I look forward to hearing from you.
I am currently employed by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia as the full time Mentoring Coordinator. I complete intake with clients and volunteers and monitor our matches.
I was a Day Care Teacher at the Heights of Horseshoe. This position required me to supervise children ages 1-5. I also organized crafts and games for the children.
As an Intern at Trulls Road FM Church, I planned, organized, and implemented summer Children, Youth, and Family activities both in the church and community. I also organized and ran a summer dance program for the children.
I was a camp counsellor with the Municipality of Clarington for 4 summers. I provided before and after care, bus care and day care for numerous camps including Kinder Camp, Dance Camp, Trip Camp and Outdoor Adventure Camp. This job included supervising camp activities and creating lesson plans including crafts, games and songs.
As a dance teacher I taught dance techniques and choreography to students ages 5 years and older. I was also an assistant teacher for 4 years.
As a Social Work Placement Student at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia, I monitored matches between the mentor and mentees, wrote case notes, mentored 3 students, and called clients and did match check-ins.
