To Whom it may Concern, Thad the pleasure of having Ziana in my Grade 1 classroom while she completed her final practicum experience. She worked in a classroom of 16 students with an Educational Assistant, and a variety of special needs including Autism, Speech Delays, and ADHD and Social Emotional Behavior. She also had the opportunity to work directly with the DIV 1 Behavior and Learning students as they joined the class every afternoon for Guided Reading and Guided Math. Ziana entered the classroom with a gentle inviting nature that instantly set the students at ease. Students clicked with her immediately, and enjoyed having her in the classroom. They were curious to learn about her, and she in turn was excited and curious about the students in our classroom. Ziana worked with the adults in the classroom to set clear expectations right from the beginning of her time at Calder. She asked numerous questions and attentively observed routines, positive reinforcement strategies, as well as management strategies that work well with the students. Ziana worked hard to not only develop her own teaching style, but also utilize skills she had seen work effectively. During her time at Calder, Ziana assisted with outdoor supervision, attended two fieldtrips, and several school assemblies. She was fully invested in all activities, and did not hesitate to offer a hand or participate where appropriate. Ziana set very clear goals when she began her practicum, outlining that she wanted to gain more experience teaching Math lessons, and expand her knowledge of IPP development. Within her first few days, Ziana took over the morning routine, introducing spelling and word work activities, as well as our daily sentence activities. Ziana worked her way to 90 teaching time; taking over the Social Studies, Science and Math units, as well as numerous Language Arts and Art lessons. Ziana planned wonderful activities that were age appropriate and fun. She was sure to incorporate movement into many of her lessons as well, knowing that the students needed stimulation. Ziana is well on her way to becoming an incredible teacher. It was a true pleasure to have her in my classroom. I feel that she would be a valuable asset to any school board. To Whom it May Concern, Reference Letter for Ziana Mangalji Ziana Mangalji is currently volunteering with the Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board as a Teacher Mentor. Her role is to attend Bait Ul Ilm (a religious education school) every Saturday and provide support to teachers of students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Ziana visits all the classrooms to complete observations and to help teachers with strategies to make the classes engaging. She also provides teachers with behavior management strategies and helps with the understanding of the curriculum. Ziana delivers 3 professional development session a year to the Bait Ul Ilm teachers on various topics including classroom management, the role of the teachers as an educator, project-based learning and building on the children’s interests. Ziana has been an instrumental part of the Bait Ul Ilm team! She is reliable, independent, hard working and efficient. She is respected by the leadership teams and the teachers.
