Hi. My name is Hailey and I am twenty years old. My mom is from Wales and my dad was born in Canada. They are split up so I understand children who have divorced parents and am always willing to help kids get through the changes that this may bring to their lives. I am currently a film major at Wilfrid Laurier University, however I am going to be changing this to my minor, and then switching my major to Women Studies. For summer semester, I am currently enrolled in two classes. My passion in life is helping people understand the bad things that can happen to us; there are specific topics that can be hard for us to talk about and one of them is when we are survivors of certain acts that can affect us for a long time. If you're ever interested in learning more about that, I'd love to chat with you about it. I think I am a really good candidate for childcare because I genuinely love children; I think they are some of the smartest people on Earth, because they see things for what they are, not something with a deeper meaning. As an example of what I mean by this, I once saw a video of children versus adults being asked the same question. The question was: "How do you put a giraffe in a refrigerator?", and the adults tried to think of complex answers that realistically didn't make much sense, while the children simply said "You open the door, put the giraffe inside, then close the door". This has always been in my head, and I saw that video probably close to 8 years ago now. I also think they are extremely creative, something that a lot of adults lose as we grow up and I really enjoy seeing children do amazing things with this creativity. I would definitely say my dedication to making children happy is something that stands out about me; I have been told multiple times that I'd be good in teaching. I do not currently have any childcare experience aside from when I babysat two boys aged 5 and 7 when I was thirteen, however I really hope I can gain some from this website. My number one priority is making sure the children are happy and safe; I always want to have children laughing and enjoying themselves, but in a safe and secure manner. I also hope to expand their creativity that I previously mentioned and promote their minds to keep dreaming and always try to achieve their goals, whether they are big or small. Finally, I want to promote kids talking about their feelings; I believe that every child should feel safe enough with at least one person in their life to talk about how they feel about any topic, whether it be our ever-changing world or the weather, I am always going to have a listening ear for them.
