My name is Katrina and I was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK. I grew up with kids who have been diagnosed with Autism and Cerebral palsy. My Grandma has been running a care home consisting of seven children, four of them unfortunately live their lives in wheelchairs and the other three are capable of walking and feeding themselves but need help with basic day to day tasks such as personal hygiene and maintaining a healthy active lifestyle. On sunny days I believe it is important for everyone to get some sunshine by going for little strolls and sitting in shaded areas outside; from time to time we would go for outings to our local Dairy Queen for a special treat for everyone. I am an artistic individual who enjoys spending my leisure time painting, drawing and beading as a way of self expression. I would love to share my time and experience helping those around me explore their personal interests and help them find their special niche. To help and understand others is my favourite way to learn more about myself and grow as a person. I am the youngest of my parents bunch and grew up with three older siblings. I currently am living with my Dad, Step Mom and three younger step siblings. I hold myself to a standard for my younger family members as I am someone they come to for guidance and assurance. For future goals I’m looking into going back to school to become a child psychologist or a social worker. But for now I’m taking time off to enjoy life as it is and save up to settle in my home.

Most of my childcare experience can come from babysitting my younger step siblings, niece and nephews and family friends children. I teach the kids I babysit by showing them how to clean up after themselves, use manners and explore their personal interests. There’s been a few kids who I’ve been able to help them learn how to play the flute for their school band. (I used to play the flute in elementary school) As for the special needs I have only worked with teens and adults but am always willing to help younger individuals with day to day tasks and if needed long term goals (stretching, physio workouts, etc).

I am a year 2020 graduate at Prince Albert Collegiate High School.
