My name is Trang and I go by Mia. I am a youthful Vietnamese international student with a BBA degree, and I am now a second-year psychology student at Douglas College. So far, I had 1-year experience being a nanny and tutor when I was studying abroad in China. Besides, I could only contribute additional time to volunteer as a Student Ambassador at Douglas College to help running school events and connect students. I would love to approach a broader community or have any job opportunity to develop the skills needed in psychology and social work, the fields I wish to study and pursue professionally in the future. After class, I usually read books (my genre can range from horror, romance to non-fiction books). I also develop a habit of reading French children's books. I love cooking, working out, drawing and watching Youtube, Netflix and Disney+. I occasionally go fishing with my partner when we have time (and to be honest, I have never caught a single fish in Canada. ).

When I was studying abroad in China, I was babysitting 4 children Vietnamese-French and Vietnamese-Swedish families from March 2017 to June 2018. The following points were my job description: Receive shifts on-call from two Vietnamese-French/Swedish families. The kids’ ages were 3, 4, 9 and 10 years old. Keep the play area safe and free from hazards. Change diapers, dress children and assist them with their snacks, drinks and meals as needed. Teach children the importance of good personal hygiene and health habits. Keep an individual record for each child that includes information about his or her behaviours and discuss this information with each child’s parents on that shift. Occasionally prepare syllabus and overall course structure, and administer to teach Vietnamese for the children.
