Hi there. My name is Rachel . I am currently graduating my last year of Child, Youth and Family studies at the University of Guelph. I have had a passion for working with children and vulnerable individuals since a very young age. I have babysat for several families in my community since I was 12. I also was a PSW in a group home for four years, so I am very comfortable with personal care routines, administering medications etc. Outside of work I love to be outside and active. I love hiking, and spending time with my family. One of my greatest achievements is a business I started last year that advocates for mental health and women’s issues. I have grown up as a big sister, and my siblings considered me their “second mom. ” I hope that I would make a good fit for you and your family.

I have had a ton of experience in child care. As I mentioned in my biography, I have been babysitting since a young age. I was a nanny for a family consistently for four years. I have experience babysitting newborns up to 13 year olds. I also worked at a child care centre in Guelph as a practicum student. In this role I facilitated group activities, supervised children at play and completed daily documentation. I also learned how to manage behavioural difficulties effectively. Lastly, I worked as a PSW in a group home for four years. I have extensive experience working with individuals who have disabilities and providing person care. In this role I was independently responsible for the well-being of my clients, and therefore have developed a great deal of responsibility and the ability to solve problems quickly.

I have both my high school diploma, and I will be graduating in a month with a bachelors degree in child, youth and family. I have also been trained in CPR and first aid. Working as a PSW in the group home I am also trained with administering medication and dealing with behavioural outbursts.
