My name is Caitlin and I am from Vancouver Island. I love working with children and youth, it has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I work as a nanny right now and I am in school for Child and Youth Care as well as I have lived overseas in Australia and worked as a nanny there. Through dance, family and life experiences, my love for creating relationships with families and providing quality childcare has grown and it is something I truly enjoy. My work is based around safety, creativity, fun and care as well as meeting the child where they are at, and supporting the family as a whole.
I am an outgoing and extroverted individual. I really enjoy dance, yoga and working out. I spend lots of time in nature and I can always be found by the ocean or on a hike in the forest. My family and friends describe me as empathetic and caring, as well as energetic and quick. I can easily bounce between different tasks and I like a challenging situation.
In my free time, I teach and take dance, go to the gym and hang out with my partner. I love skating and rollerblading, hanging with my parents and doing small crafts. I enjoy reading and also searching and researching online for anything related to my career.
I grew up with three siblings and around many extended family members. I am very close with my siblings, especially since becoming an aunt in the last year. I have several close friends, all of which I have travelled with and have known for 10+ years. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends but as they are all spread out now, it is harder to see them.
I started babysitting consistently when I was 13, .Around 16, I did more full-time babysitting jobs over the summer, winter and spring breaks. When I turned 18, I nannied full time and worked in child care in different settings like home care, rec camps, summer camps etc. At 19, I was an au pair in Australia for 6 months which I loved. Once I returned home, I became a nanny for a family friend and have continued that for two years while studying at university.
Additional Experiences/Qualifications:
I expect respect, honesty and empathy from both myself and the family I work for. The best jobs and families that I have worked for have been transparent, understanding, flexible and kind as I work best in an environment that is open and collaborative. While I don't expect things to always be smooth (as children have their own ideas made up), I hope that my relationship with your family comes with trust, care and understanding.

I have taken multiple courses and workshops surrounding Child and Youth Care, diversabilties, CYC mental health and First Aid. I am finishing my associate degree of arts and I plan to go into midwifery later in my career.
