I am a paramedic who has moved from a remote area to the city to be closer to my aging mother who will be living with me once our home renovations are complete. I also have two service dogs who are about 10 pounds each and are hypoallergenic. They are a great teaching tool for kids learning about respect, compassion, trust, etc. So I imagine the ideal scenario to involve a multi generational care environment with different stimuli. We have endless art supplies and I do a lot of painting; on rocks, paper, canvas etc. My preference is to have the flexibility to be in either resident as sometimes familiarity is best suited tor your child and other times a change is best. Together, we can come up with the best care plan for your child/children. I am very communicative and will never leave you wondering about progress, changes, challenges, etc. I am a careful eater, and have the ability to adapt to and dietary needs. I follow an AIP diet, and my mom avoids gluten and dairy, but I can cook anything that suits your family. I am very healthy and havent had so much as a sniffle in decades. I stay active and prefer to be outdoors when possible. I checked off ‘good swimmer’ in this profile. I am not a stylish swimmer doing laps in a pool, but I surf, and race kayaks, and do competitive kiteboarding etc, and in our remote community, we do rescues on the lakes for float plane crashes, and I have done a fair amount of commercial fishing, so I am comfortable in any water related situation. Life is beautiful, and I am looking forward to speaking with you.

I am a paramedic and I am trained to handle all emergencies. I have worked over 10 years with the Ministry of children and family development doing residential care for ‘at risk’ youth and younger children. I was responsible for stabilizing their behaviours and improving school attendance and med compliance. In the programs in my homes, the focus was on creating sustainable habits that they can build their life upon; meals, morning and night routines were essential for them to look forward to. We worked on basic communication for younger kids to express their thoughts to complex problem solving for older kids. Often kids are traumatized in some way before they start my program, and my personal approach was to give them an environment full of alternative choices; food, activities, emotional outlets, healing/therapy choices -music, art, play etc I worked primarily with kids who have fetal alcohol affects, and some who are on the autism spectrum, and a couple of kids who are developmentally delayed. Childcare is what I studied at school and what I did when I started working. It has been 15 years since I had kids in my care, and the language and political correctness may have changed since then but my philosophy will still stand true….. for when kids are at their worst and you are at your topes end….. ‘its when you feel they deserve it the least, they need it the most… love’. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I prefer to focus on your children only. Pets are ok, but care for other people’s children will need to be discussed if it comes up. I provide high quality interactive care. The tv is rarely on, and I prefer to involve the children in the tasks I am doing. This has been the key to my success in the past; interactive and involved care. We can come to an agreement about my expected tasks. Also the rate above is for one child and a minimum of 3 hrs. It is adjusted accordingly based on number of children. Less than 3 hours can be arranged at a rate of $25 per hr Any expected driving for pick up or drop off is an additional. 40 cents per km. I am always accessible via txt/phone. I do not try and change how anyone parents, but I am happy to give feedback when asked.

I have completed a number of electives relating to child care under the program umbrella of social service work. I am also a former Kumon instructor for accelerated extra circular learning I am a pcp level trained paramedic
