Mom Helper Required for Home

Active:

Hello, I am a full time single mom of two who also runs a full time business that addresses mental health in children and youth. I have been finding I am simply not getting enough work time in, but also I am simply too stressed to be the type of mom I desire to be for my girls (ages 10 and 7). We live in Ladner on a small family farm in a large, bright rancher and have a few cats and a dog (small labradoodle) too that are part of the family. My girls are bright, independent, intelligent, sensitive souls. My oldest is a performer at heart and loves dance the most, my youngest will do anything and everything she can to keep her body moving. Both also love to read and do art, cook and bake, and spend time outside. We are a spiritual, non denominational, family who values kindness, respect, gratitude, acceptance (not just tolerance) of all, and love above all.....even if it's at the expense of a clean home and work being done. We value our fun and silly sides too! I am looking for someone who can simply be another me...the me that deals with the household needs namely. I am hoping the person could be here in the mornings around 7-7:30am and to be finished around 11 or 12pm (approx.25 hours per week). This said, for the right person, flexibility abounds. For example, if it can't be daily and you can only do 4 days, but can stay longer another day, that is ok. As the only financial income for my family, budget is of concern, but I also value your time, needs and energy and will respect these above all. Duties include: - I do expect my children to take responsibility for their needs, but need someone to oversee and do the things that little hands and a child's developmental mind are not akin too yet (like making lunches and looking ahead at the day) - ensuring the day is set to go for the girls and their activities, which includes school (lunches/snacks and any schools needs such as homework and library books in the bag) and extra curricular needs are packed and ready (clothing, footwear, snacks, etc) - children's laundry (it's ok if this is even weekly unless there are things required for activities) - linens and towels (weekly) - floors (weekly vacuum is ok apart from the obvious places that might need a quick daily sweep) - weekly bathrooms are cleaned - occasional deeper clean and projects (i.e. going through kids' clothing, taking to thrift store if outgrown) - help posting/maintaining items on varage as needed (not a lot, but I keep saying I'll do this and never do!) - rolling coins as needed - dishes (we don't have a dishwasher) - weekly garbage/recycling needs - pet assistance: occasional trip to the vet if required, but on a daily basis there is litter boxes if we have not yet attended to them (and a sweep of the floor around the area); a quick backyard pooper scooper if required - in summer, there is watering of flowers to attend to (outdoors) - year round,a weekly water of indoor plants - if you're not opposed to it, then some light weeding work in the garden as needed (I generally am good at upkeep though); a weekly sweep of front door area - grocery shopping as needed and keeping ahead of the grocery needs - checking in on my personal emails for updates of the childrens' activities/events/school needs and adding this to my google calendar. Making appointments as necessary, also adding to calendar. Essentially keeping me organized!! This also includes submitting insurance forms for childrens' medical/dental/etc expenses. - occasional errands locally, ie. buying a birthday present for a friend's party or having something fixed, grabbing something at a store that's beyond just groceries. - drop girls to school (5 minute drive from our home), unless I am scheduled or wanting to be there - preparing of meals: I am health conscious, particularly for my children, and like to make sure they are getting all that they need. This said, I am not a parent that refuses treats or can't say OH WELL now and then. But, ideally, we have home-cooked meals, snacks, baked goods and treats. When my children were younger I made everything from scratch until life became too busy. I usually find or alter recipes so I can substitute with good ingredients and/or hide nutrition! Breakfast may or may not be needed to prepare, but more likely you will be focusing on packing lunches, snacks (for both school and extra curricular) and prepping dinner. Generally I do a batch of baking once a week to be used for treats and/or snacks. Also, usually about 3 dinners a week that have leftovers for the other nights. Or perhaps everything is prepped and I just facilitate it that evening. This will require some communication and getting our flow together, but if you're used to cooking and also passionate about healthy food, I'm sure we'll make it work! We love all types of food, but are vegetarian based. The flow of the day would include arriving and getting the girls' needs ready before they leave for school around 8:20am (driven by you). Once they're dropped off, either attending to errands needed or heading back to the house to attend to the needs there. Before leaving for the day ensuring that things are ready for the rest of the day to unfold without you here (i.e. girls' activity needs, food prepped). I am flexible, but like organization and attention to detail. I work from home mostly so having a tidy place is important to me as I am here most of the time. Must have valid driver's license, a safe and reliable car, and of course a good and clean driving record. A Criminal Record Check which includes the vulnerable sector request is required. Able to take responsibility, manage affairs efficiently and effectively, be flexible so you can adapt and evolve with needs, and be kind, patient and respectful to my children above all else. A nurturing, calm/grounded, light hearted and organized soul is who we seek! If this is you I would love to hear back from you. Thank you! Julia
