We are looking for a nanny to care for two 12month old children (a boy and a girl) as part of a nanny share starting the end of January. Hours: Monday to Thursday from 8am – 5pm. We are located in Kitsilano and the nanny share will take place in both of our homes – one week in each home. About the position: We are seeking someone who is responsible, caring, positive, and engaging. You be able to stimulate and engage the children indoors, and enjoy walks and outdoor activities rain or shine. You will engage our children in age appropriate activities such as stories, children's music and educational toys/play and establish/follow a daily routine (no screen time for the children). We live close to the library, neighborhood house and community centre and would like you to take the children to age-appropriate programs such as story time at the library. We would like the nanny to provide healthy meals and snacks and to model healthy eating when with the children. We will provide a weekly meal plan and some basic food preparation will be required for lunch and snacks and possibly some breakfasts. Caring for the children is our main priority but the children will have two naps a day at the beginning and we would like the nanny to do some light housework, meal prep, baking during this time. Qualifications: • Extensive experience working with 12 month olds and the ability to care for two children of the same age • Current infant/child first aid and CPR • Criminal record check • Legally entitled to work in Canada • Some college education is preferred and ECE certification is an asset • Fluent in English, which will be the main language of care. Both our children are bilingual (Portuguese/English in one home and English/Urdu in the other) About the families: Both families are kind, calm and very loving people. We love being in nature and enjoy regular outdoor activities. We value our time with our children and believe that play (both free play and structures play) is a wonderful way to learn, we value physical activity, immersion in nature and healthy eating. Our children are both calm and observant and love to laugh and be engaged through stories, song and dance. We both aim to have a calm and fun home environment and strive to keep our household organized and clean. On top of your hourly wage, you will be paid 4 in lieu of holiday pay. In addition, we will contribute to your Employment Insurance (EI) and Canada Pension Plan (CPP).
