Live-in Caregiver Required for Family Matriarch with Middle Stage Alzheimer's

TC
Active:

Sheila is a spunky, fun-loving, independent 84 year old lady of British descent who is in the middle stages of Alzheimer's. She loves to dance, goes grocery shopping near her home, and loves to go down to the Bloor West Village area for coffee or flowers or to her favourite pub. She was an artist, and appreciates art and beautiful things. She loves gardening. She is happy to hop on a bus to get to Bloor West Village, or to friends in her old neighborhood in Etobicoke. But, although she wears a GPS tracker and has a cell phone, our family is concerned she won't be able to find her way home for much longer. We need to make sure she is safe. But she is very independent and would never agree to a companion hired to look after her. She will need to be convinced that we have hired a housekeeper, who can also drive her to appointments or to visit friends. Because the FAMILY needed this, not her. She is currently living with her son and two of her granddaughters, my brother and nieces, who all work or are in school through the day, so this is when we would need a companion to stay with her. Sheila bathes and dresses herself and needs no help using the bathroom and has no mobility issues. Other than a little stiffness she has no other health issues. She doesn't always remember to eat or drink enough water, so making sure she does, including cooking nutritious family meals, as well as light cleaning duties would be part of the job. Though Sheila likes to do the dishes and the washing/laundry as well. It makes her feel useful. She takes one pill a day which helps a lot to control her moods. She can get quite agitated if she doesn't take her pill. We would like to introduce some natural health protocols as well, as simple as a smoothie with certain supplements a day and making sure her essential oil diffuser with a special blend of CBD and oils for memory is always on. Her short-term memory is not good and she repeats herself a lot, but she is generally quite happy when she is being stimulated and in a social environment. She is not "wandering" but does like to come and go as mentioned and loves to walk. The ideal candidate would be kind and patient, gently redirecting the conversation if it is upsetting her, encouraging her, engaging her, never arguing with her. Must have a valid driver's license with insurance to take her to visit friends or to appointments. There are two vehicles at the house that could be utilized for appointments or visits with friends with some pre-arrangement. There is a landline at the home as well. If you think you might be the right fit for our mother Sheila please message me here so I can see your profile and from there we will possibly arrange a meet and greet and interview. Please do not phone or text. Thanks for looking, Taryn
