Seeking Brilliant Occasional Sitters for Our Spirited 8 Year Old in Richmond

HE
Active:

We’re a professionally-employed couple looking for one (or a few) phenomenal babysitter(s) to add to our roster, and spend morning/afternoon time (DAYTIME HOURS) with our wonderful 8 year old daughter in Richmond (Steveston) STARTING IN SEPTEMBER. She is very smart, incredibly amusing, adorably cute and has a wild imagination. She is also on the autism spectrum, which gives her some unique quirks. My work is by appointment starting in September, so I would require occasional "on-call" type coverage. Typically, the work hours start in the morning around 8:00am, and would last until sometime between 12:00pm and 4:00pm. I would be able to provide 24 hours' advance notice when seeking coverage, and in some cases, a lot of advance notice! We schedule for a minimum of 4 hours of work time per shift. Successful applicants for our babysitters' list would be given paid "on the job training" time with me in August, prior to taking on any shifts when I'm away. Our sitters are provided with a petty cash that they can use at their discretion with my daughter. Our home is within close walking distance of shops, the library, a playground, a pier, ice cream parlours, and a Reserve Starbucks, so there is plenty to do throughout the day and evening! We think we’re a good family to work with/for, and we've been told that our kid is pretty lovable, too, at least according to previous nannies, whom we still keep in touch with. Ideally, our sitters: - really really love kids and treat them as equals - have firm boundaries but a gentle hand and a lot of patience - enjoy talking about Roblox, the Loud House, K-pop music, and bunnies, and also enjoy pretending to be these with my kiddo - can play with abandon like a child - can creatively coax our girl to enjoy the outdoors every day - **are fluent in English, and gifted communicators** - are good at taking initiative and finding ways to engage our daughter - have a vehicle and can drive to our home, given COVID concerns and the risks posed by taking public transportation (or lives within walking distance of our home) - is practising social distancing and every COVID precaution Bonus points if you: - love talking to kids who enjoy conversations and story-telling - have prior experience loving kids with special needs / on the autism spectrum (specifically demand-avoidant kids) - can patiently answer the same question 7 times in a row or listen to long, elaborate stories - have lots of energy and speed - are generally pretty calm and chill - are reliable and healthy, both emotionally and physically - are LGBTQIA+ allies - take a child-led, attachment-oriented, and non-behaviourist approach to supporting kids It’s important to us to find the right match between our sitters and our little lady, and compensation is negotiable for the right sitters. Frequency of need for childcare coverage is sporadic, but to cultivate relationship we do hope to have successful sitter(s) come in at least twice a month. We will only contact those whom we are interested in interviewing. Thank you for your time!
