Hello! We are a loving, fun, artistic, goofy and weird, busy family of 3 females and 4 fur babies (2 cats, 2 dogs). We pride ourselves on our humour, our kindness, our ability to go with the flow, our passion for our planet's creatures and environment, and the cultures of our world, our love of the arts, all things that feel magical and strong female role models. Myself and my kids are busy! I have been a single parent for about a decade now so it is not something I even think of describing myself as, it just is what my life is and I just go with it. The girls see their Dad a couple days a month on alternating weekends and the rest of the time they are with me. We have always been the fabulous three whom are close as can be, relying on each other for everything as at the end of the day we are all we have got! I do have my both of my parents who help out on occasion as well, particularly with getting kids to/from activities on some weeknights or weekend events. I am self employed, my oldest works in the film and television industry as well as dances, and my youngest daughter is passionate about dance, circus arts, art, reading, science and math. I have always been a full time, hands on mom which is why I choose to work for myself so that my schedule can be flexible to accommodate my kids, my pets, my household and my own needs of keeping myself physically fit and mentally at peace. Physical health and mental well-being are at the centre of all my choices for myself and for my children. On a daily basis there is the needs of the kids, the pets and the home...more on that in the next section. Myself, I would describe as hard working, organized, patient, flexible, kind, caring and goofy. I want you to be able to live your life to its fullest as well. I want this to be a mutually beneficial situation, albeit with my children and household as the foundation. I want us to be thoughtful and considerate of each other's needs so that we can all get along, feel happy and healthy and taken care of. To me that also requires the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and have the ability to communicate well with each other. We have had a couple of experiences with local nannies before and they have been an amazing part of our lives for the short time period they were each with us and both have remained connected with our family since. What made them great fits were their kind and gentle nature, love for learning and exploring, energy to play and create and laugh, and their flexibility. As I am generally the predominant caregiver for my daughters, particularly my youngest who developmentally still has mom as the centre of her world, it is very important for me that I find someone whom I feel my girls will be blessed to have in their world. There are two different scenarios that will be happening depending on which child you are with and that will depend on what is happening with a schedule each week. My oldest child begins filming at the end of July and will be on set full time through until the end of November of this year. Set days are generally about 12 hours long (plus travel to/from, so that adds an extra hour). Sometimes you will be required to be the guardian on set with her. This means you are within sight and earshot of her at all times, ensuring her physical and mental well-being. She does have school on set as well, which is a time you are not directly with her. All meals are provided for her and yourself while on set. We receive a filming schedule usually on a weekly basis, sometimes updated slightly even daily, so your ability to go with the flow and be flexible is necessary in our lives. If you are not on set, then I am and that means your duties are on the homefront with the pets, the household and my youngest. As my youngest is 9 years old she is in school (Sept-June). In the morning it means getting her lunch packed for school and ensuring she is getting herself ready for school and eating breakfast. When she's in school that is usually the time I take the dogs for a long walk, the house needs to be tidied up, laundry done, errands done (mainly groceries) and prepare for the afternoon/evening (pack activity bags, ensure snacks are ready to go and prepare dinner for her). My oldest and I are both vegetarian, but my youngest eats some meat. She likes basic North American kids food really and predominantly snacks or light meals. (Complete opposite of my oldest I will say! haha) I always schedule in my own time in a day too in order for myself to get to the gym or in general take care of myself, so I recognize this will be somewhere in part of your daily needs too, whatever that looks like for yourself. Generally I do this while my youngest is at her activities, but there is time during the day when she is at school as well. She generally has after-school activities on a daily basis and when she doesn't then I like to invite a friend of hers to come over to play after school. My youngest loves to be kept busy, whether it's new experiments, making crafts, having fun with math, reading, art, playing basketball, skateboarding, bike riding, going to the park, going swimming, playing board games, baking, playing dolls or making a you tube video. Occasionally there might be some weekend time required as well. The ability to drive, and with a safe driving record, is mandatory.
