I am looking for a caregiver for an elderly woman who has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The job of caregiver would include the following duties: personal care (showering), dressing and grooming assistance, meal preparation, leading and participating in exercises, laundry, light housekeeping (including cleaning of bathrooms), and other day-to-day activities. Toileting assistance may be required later on. It is important to have experience with caring for a person with Alzheimer's. Only those candidates with a considerable of experience with Alzheimer's would be considered. The caregiver must be kind, caring, and compassionate. The caregiver must also communicate well. It would be important to be gentle in everyday situations. This is a live-in position from Sunday evening to Friday evening. Having a vehicle would be an asset. The duration of the position is not known at this time. The position may be short term but it could into a longer term. Tentative start date is August 12, but it may be earlier. The location of the elderly person's house is on the southwest side of Edmonton.
