We are seeking a playful, trustworthy and reliable caregiver to take care of our son for 3 hours after school on Friday. The hours would be ideally 2:45 to 5:45 but I have some flexibility. If you are interested there may be opportunities for more hours on occasional evenings, weekends, and Pro-D days when kids are out of school. Our son has mild (high-functioning) autism, he is bright with excellent verbal skills and has a playful imagination. His primary challenges have to do with sensory triggers (e.g. sudden noises, or sometimes animals and insects) which create a great deal of anxiety for him. Experience with autism spectrum disorders is ideal but not required, as most of the time he is like a typical, happy, energetic 5 year old and I can instruct you with strategies to deal with special issues that might arise. The only house keeping required is to prepare and serve his snacks, to clean his dishes and eating area, and to keep the play areas tidy. You also need to be relatively physically fit to walk to a local park and play games like hide & seek. We have a cat in our home, she is friendly.
