Seeking a compassionate, respectful and trustworthy individual to provide companionship and assistance caring for a 75-year old male who is 2.5 months post stroke with right-sided deficits and speech and cognition difficulties. Responsibilities will include: - companionship (talking!) - practicing physio exercises - practicing speech and language - setting up a meal or snack to make sure he eats - make sure he drinks water - possibly taking for a walk around the block if weather is okay - using apps on an iPad to help familiarize - when you know each other better, possibly taking him to a physio appointment or group (if you have a driver’s license) activity, or just getting him out of the house We need someone who is self-directed and able to provide clear instruction. Someone with patience to repeat instructions and who knows what is needed to help someone (who is very stubborn) regain independence. We are looking for someone to actively aid in recovery and help keep his spirits up. We are flexible on which days and what specific time of day. Thinking around 3 days per week for 2-4 hours. Home is located in Kitsilano, near 15th & Macdonald.
