Full-time Childcare Provider (and Nurse)

NS
Active:

We are looking for an full-time day caregiver for our 3.5 year old daughter with complex medical needs. Please note: this role requires an active nursing license and specialized training that we will provide. Our daughter has a tracheostomy, g-tube and a large suite of ongoing medical issues. We need a caring and dependable individual with a nursing background and desire/commitment to developmental play to care for her, while her parents and sister are away during the day. More about us: Our daughter has multiple physical delays and a severe expressive speech delay (related to her physical challenges). However, she is a very bright child with cognitive development at or above her age group (ex. she is attempting to read at her 3.5yrs old). She attends a regular preschool and is receiving intense ongoing support from various developmental specialists. Our expectation is that her daytime caregiver will actively deliver developmental programming as per the therapists’ and parents’ guidance. Her developmental needs are as important as her medical safety, and her needs for developmental support will only increase as she approaches school age. We are an extremely busy family as we both work full time and have another child, and we have very little time and opportunity to react to changes in schedules and circumstances. It is very rare that any of our caregivers (we have a current daytime caregiver and a staff of overnight nurses) calls an absence. Life happens and we are happy to work around things as they come up. However, if scheduling or inconsistency in performance become regular, we have limited opportunity to accommodate this. Our daughter needs stability and it is our priority to provide it. Job description: Hours: Mon-Fri, 7:30am to 4:30pm Location: near Calgary Zoo and Telus Spark 1) Provide ongoing medical supervision of the child’s airway (that requires suctioning) and attend to her other medical needs (training will be provided by Alberta Children Hospital and the parents) 2) Administer medications and tube-feedings and practice safe food preparation 3) Actively deliver developmental (gross motor, fine motor, speech) programming as per guidance from developmental team and parents. Your qualifications: 1) You must hold a valid and ACTIVE medical license from CLPNA or CARNA (additional training will be provided) 2) You must enjoy working with kids and be interested in their development 3) You must be able to handle an emergency 4) You must be a good communicator 5) Any credentials related to child development experience will be a big plus Please note that we are unable to respond to messages without a resume.
