We are a family of 5 looking for live in (preferable) or Live Out caregiver to help us take care of our 73 year old father who has Early to Mid Stage Dementia. He currently lives with us in the basement apartment of our home and we are fully involved and engaged in his care. We are looking for someone to be part of our family in helping is care for our father and our home. Live in accommodations would be available in the basement apartment of our home that has a separate entrance, private bedroom and shared bathroom, kitchen and living room. Your primary responsibilities will be to care for our father and ensure his safety. In addition we would like someone who is able to help us clean our home once every two weeks as well as assist with daily dinner preparations for the family. Responsibilities Include: -Proactively taking initiative in the safety and care of client. -Prepare & serve breakfast and warm up lunch (usually left overs from dinner from previous night) for client. -Accompany client on walks or outings or day programs -Do activities that are stimulating mentally with client -Assist/prepare dinner for family. It would be great if you enjoy or have a passion for cooking. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT. -Making vegetable juices, clean up -Giving vitamins/supplements per schedule -Vacuum/tidy basement apartment only regularly i.e. do dishes, clean stove, bathroom -Laundry for client only -Cleaning home twice a month per schedule -Assistance with other tasks in the home as needed. -We are looking for someone who is pro-active and does not need to constantly be given direction. -Self starter, can work independently, trustworthy and be positive. -Prior experience working with a senior in the family with dementia would be an asset. We are looking for someone who is mature, patient, calm and can be understanding with someone living with dementia. A drivers license/car would be a bonus although not required for the position. Days off would be during the week as we would require your services during the weekend. We also have a small dog.
